Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on the weekend after the team's 10-match winless start to the top-flight campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous associations to the club - are among the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is considered a strong contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they begin the process of appointing a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a shock choice given he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United midfielder is out of work which means Wolves would not need to provide any buyout fee.
